Covering 608 hectares, the park is home to 208 different wild animal species, including the yellow-bellie
d weasel and hedgehogs, along with numerous types of birds. Tourists visit the venue throughout the year.上海419
According to the Olympic Park Management Committee, protecting the ecos
上海419女神会所ystem is the top priority, and the park is designed to act as Beijing’s “green lung”－a
n area for leisure and entertainment that meets the increasing demand from local residents for green space.
When the park was completed in June 2008, the proportion of forest area上海419
in Beijing rose to 67 percent and carbon sequestration－a process by which carb
on dioxide is removed from the atmosphere and held in solid or liquid form－reached 4,763 metric tons per ye
上海419女神会所ar. The park releases 5,208 tons of oxygen annually, according to the management committee.
As dusk falls at the park, young men play basketball on outdoor courts, retirees dance in large grou
ps and families use the walkways to exercise. Lovers often sit along the trails, listening to guitar players.上海419
Since 2014, Zhang Yu, 40, an illustrator at a nature and geographical magazine in Beijing for young readers, has spent more than
上海419女神会所100 nights in the park during summer and autumn, searching with a flashlight for signs of hedgehogs.
He even considered bringing a tent to the park late at night to ensure he had sufficient time to track the creatures.
According to Zhang, untended land in the park provides the perfect hab上海419
itat for hedgehogs, and they usually rest and sleep on the edges of grassy areas.
Wang Zhou, 60, from Beijing, who has been a keen bird watcher since 1996, said, “W

Wang, who worked in finance before retiring, said she used to watch birds to ease the pressure of work.
“Every time I saw the birds, especially some new species that sudd上海419
enly appeared, I felt a sense of satisfaction and my spirits quickly rose,” she said.
Wang has also watched birds at other parks in Beijing, such as the Old Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven.上海419女神会所
“Compared with other places, Olympic Forest Park has bushy shrubs an

n of Hubei province, announced that it had punished 15 local officials for constructing a bridge that caused the de
上海419品茶微信aths of 36 Chinese sturgeons, which are a critically endangered species. China Daily writer Zhang Zhouxiang comments:
In September 2018, when a company was constructing the local Miyue Bridge in Jingzhou, Hubei province, a nearby C
hinese sturgeon breeding base found that their Chinese sturgeons suffered and were jumping out of the water. 上海419
An investigation concluded that it was the noise of the construction that distur
上海419bed the fish. However, the local government upon receiving the investigation report si
mply passed the buck from one department to another. The construction did not stop until one month later, but th
e tragedy had already happened because 36 Chinese sturgeons, whose number is lower than 1,000 nationwide, died. 上海419品茶微信
A later probe even found that the construction project had not undergone any environmental impact assessment. The ca
上海419e reflects the lack of any environmental protection awareness among many local officials, whose sole co
ncern is GDP growth. The construction of the bridge will probably result in tens of millions of yuan in GDP growth. C
ompared to that, in their minds, the lives of a few Chinese sturgeons are expendable. 上海419
For a long time, wildlife protection and other aspects of environmental protection have
上海419品茶微信been considered a job that belongs to environmental departments only. In this case, the local
government of Jingzhou received complaints first, but they simply passed them on.
Even when experts reached their conclusions, the bridge constr 上海419
uction still continued. It did not stop until the media reported on the incident.
This is the first of its kind, in which local officials have been punished for failing to properly protect an endangered species. Mo
上海419品茶微信re important, the majority of the 15 punished officials serve in administrative offices, not just the one responsible for wi
ldlife protection. In other words, wildlife protection is considered a job for every department.
Let’s hope it will guide more officials nationwide to have a deeper understanding of the importance of wildlife protection.
Barbey, 78, says he saw former premier Zhou Enlai many times (during the 1973 visit). “The trip by t
he French president lasted for five or six days, and Zhou was with the delegation every day for reasons of protocol.”上海419品茶微信
Barbey recalls that whenever Pompidou visited Beijing, Shanghai or Datong in Shanxi prov
上海419ince, where the French president traveled to see archaeological sites, he saw Zhou every day.
“Zhou is a special figure to the French people. He spent some years in France as a young m
an, among the generation of Chinese students who came to the country on a study-work program.”上海419
Barbey remembers asking Zhou’s interpreter, a woman in her mid-50s, how many French
上海419interpreters of her caliber were there in China－and she answered there was “about 11”. When he vis
ited Shanghai, he was told that there were only three French people living in the city.上海419品茶微信
One of the most iconic photos Barbey took from the 1973 visit is a portrait of Zhou when he
accompanied Pompidou on a boat trip around the West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
上海419The image is not included in the show at the National Art Museum, but a portrait of another i
mportant figure who had a connection with France－a snapshot of Ba Jin sunbathing in 1980－is on display. Th上海419
e prominent Chinese author also studied in France for two years during the late 1920s.
“I met him very briefly in Shanghai at his house. He still spoke French,” says Barbey.上海419
The warm tones and sharpness of Barbey’s imagery also pres
上海419品茶微信erve the vibrant details of people’s everyday lives at a time when taking photos remained a lux
ury for many. Many of the scenes and ways of life have now vanished from the fast-paced metropolis. For example, one pho

s paddy fields on the outskirts of Shanghai which have now been replaced by high-rise buildings.

上海419Besides, the toilet modernization program should be sustainable in nature. And for that, the of

上海419There is a need to pay more attention to sustainability
The toilet revolution has not only improved farmers’ quality of life,
but also brought them some unexpected benefits. For instance, thanks to the significant impr上海419品茶微信
ovement in the living conditions in rural areas, partly due to the toilet revolution, young people living in the city ten
d to spend more time with their parents or grandparents in the countryside. As such, farmers will gra上海419
dually recognize the program’s many benefits and their enthusiasm for the toilet revolution will likely increase.
Also, certain villages’ experiences of the nationwide toilet modernization campaign could be applied elsewhere. For i上海419品茶微信
nstance, the model of integrating toilet renovation with domestic wastewater treatment adopted by Laiwu, Sha
ndong province, not only turns waste into productive commodity, but also significantly lowers the cost of the toilet ren
ovation. This model could be applied to areas with similar conditions and socioeconomic development level.上海419
Moreover, there is a need to pay more attention to the effects and sustainability of the
toilet revolution. To this end, a third-party monitoring and evaluation system sho上海419品茶微信
uld be established to assess the results and ensure the program is properly operated in the long run.

China’s new negative lists, which were shortened to introduce greater opening-up, will take effect on July 30, the country’s top economic regulator said.

In a released excerpt from a book on Gove’s life, the se

“He was firmly instructed not to give that answer in public, and told instead to fall back
